DUAL FEEDS

Dual Feeds are two feeds sharing one mobile unit. A Dual feed is done only when both feeds (such as home and away) request a mobile unit that can do dual feeds. The Mobile Television Group's DX and HDX series of mobile units are equipped for dual feeds.

Dual-Feed Mobile Units: 6HDX, 8HDX, 11HDX, 12HDX, 16HDX, 20HDX, 25HDX, 26HDX, 27HDX, 28HDX

Production Units with separate Visitor Mobile Units (VMUs):

The primary (normally home) feed in a typical dual feed does its regular show with normal equipment and crew complements. The secondary (normally away) feed in a typical dual feed has the equipment and crew complement listed below.

Preparing for a Successful Dual-Feed has useful information from a TD. He's also made some notes for TDs on how best to prepare for a dual feed. Another experienced dual-feed TD has provided information on Dual-Feed Switcher Macro Effects -- particularly usable for MLB dual-feeds.

Call times for TD and Audio for both sides of a dual-feed are two hours prior than rest of crew. This additional time is vital for required, additional coordination needed between the two feeds on set-up.

Dual-Feed Crew provided by Mobile TV Group is billable at cost to the individual feeds. Costs include actual crew rates in applicable markets, crewing fees, payroll burden and/or overhead, any union fees or crew benefits, any meals or water or parking provided for crew, any travel required for crew and, any other costs associated with providing crew.

Equipment and crew may vary depending on specific event and client requirements.
